New Technology Benefits
Inherent Benefits of Microsoft SQL Server. JIWA Financials was Australia's first Microsoft SQL Server based accounting system, first implemented in 1995.
Microsoft SQL Server is the 'database engine' of the NASDAQ stock exchange, handling up to 32,000 transactions per second.
For JIWA, this power results in many benefits, including:
- The ability to handle massive amounts of transactions (such as invoices) and large numbers of users processing at the same time without speed/performance issues and without data integrity/corruption issues
- The JIWA database is able to be backed up whilst users are still processing within the JIWA system. Users will not even know that the backup is in progress
- No lengthy rollover procedures at the end of months or end of years, as JIWA is a date-based system and not a period-based system. This also has massive advantages for reporting
- The Microsoft SQL Server database also provides a powerful base upon which to build efficient workflows and powerful reports.
No Old Technology
JIWA is designed specifically for Microsoft Windows and always has been. It has never used old DOS technologies. JIWA is a 100% Microsoft Windows application.
As well as the ease-of-use that comes from this, it means JIWA Financials is not restricted by old technology.
JIWA takes full advantage of modern technology to provide site-specific functionality and even user-specific functionality within the one company, without affecting future upgrades. This results in great flexibility. For example, any information is able to be presented as a pop-up when and where a user needs it.
In technical jargon, JIWA uses: COM; .NET; stored procedures; and breakouts to provide the most efficient workflows and relevant information for each Jiwa user.
Powered By Microsoft
Microsoft is continually developing JIWA's "engine" (that is, its underlying Microsoft SQL Server database) and hence JIWA is able to rely on this very credible and large corporation to incorporate the advantages of new technologies into JIWA. Some call this "future-proofing".
Due to the standard development languages used by JIWA, many IT professionals will be able to tailor their JIWA system in many areas without the assistance of JIWA. However, helps is always only a phone call away.
Open Interface Means Automation
JIWA's technology facilitates seamless and controlled interfacing with other applications, if required. This has particularly important benefits for JIWA users with eCommerce sites.
For example, "live" customer specific pricing may be displayed on the website. Orders may be seamlessly entered from the Internet into JIWA. Customer invoices, history, order statuses as well as much, much more may be displayed on a website without difficulty.
JIWA is able to import information from standard sources, such as Microsoft Excel or Access. This greatly assists in the implementation process as well as performing bulk tasks such as loading and updating inventory prices.
